Gas Supply to China through the Western Line Expanded

On September 17, Miller, the CEO of Gazprom said that Russia had already negotiated with China for gas supply through the Western Line and discussed the possibility of expanding the quantity of gas supply.
 
On that day when Miller reported Putin, the Russian President, he stated that Russian and China were planning to sign a contract that supply 30 billion cubic meters per year of gas to China through the Western Line, which would be lasted for 30 years and discuss the possibility that expand the quantity of gas supply to 60 billion or 100 billion cubic meters. He said that the Western gas transmission line had huge potential. It could increase gas supply at a high speed, according to demands in Chinese market.
 
When Miller introduced the progress on the Eastern gas supply pipe, he said that Russia was keeping in close contact with China to advance the construction of Power of Siberia gas pipe in Russia at the same schedule according to plan. 
 
Based on framework agreement which was reached by CNPC and Gazprom in October 2009, after the Eastern and the Western as pipe going into operation, Russia will transmit about 70 billion cubic meters per year of gas to China. Among that, export volume of gas was about 30 billion cubic meters per year from the western of Siberia to China through the Western Line.
 
In May, China and Russia signed gas supply contract. From 2018, Russia will supply gas to China through the Eastern Line of China-Russia gas pipe. The volume of gas will grow year by year and reach 38 billion cubic meters per year finally. Total contract period is 30 years.
